DC Operating Point Analysis – A Formal Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
If the inputs to a circuit are held constant, then the state of some circuits settle to a unique equilibrium: the DC operating point. Many circuit analysis techniques seek to determine or use this state and assume that it is unique. However, for some constant input some circuits may settle to one of several different operating points, while still others may never settle. In this paper we describe a procedure that uses symbolic circuit models generated from a netlist level circuit description to rigorously locate and classify all of the equilibria of a circuit model in order to determine the existence, location and number of DC operating points. Implemented with a collection of public tools (HySAT, INTLAB and EigTool) and our own MATLAB circuit modeling system OOmspice, we demonstrate that the technique can deduce the hysteresis of a Schmitt trigger and the lack of DC operating points for a ring oscillator with an odd number of stages.

Voltage Regulation of DC-DC Series Resonant Converter Operating in Discontinuous Conduction Mode: The Hybrid Control Approach
Dynamic modeling and control of dc-dc series resonant converter (SRC) especially when operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) is still a challenge in power electronics. Due to semiconductors switching, SRC is naturally represented as a switched linear system, a class of hybrid systems. Nevertheless, the hybrid nature of the SRC is commonly neglected and it is modeled as a purely contin...
متن کاملA New Formal Approach for Predicting Period Doubling Bifurcations in Switching Converters
Period doubling bifurcation leading to subharmonic oscillations are undesired phenomena in switching converters. In past studies, their prediction has been mainly tackled by explicitly deriving a discrete time model and then linearizing it in the vicinity of the operating point. However, the results obtained from such an approach cannot be applied for design purpose. Alternatively, in this pape...
متن کاملDC Voltage Control and Power-Sharing of Multi-Terminal DC Grids Based on Optimal DC Power Flow and Flexible Voltage Droop Strategy
This paper develops an effective control framework for DC voltage control and power-sharing of multi-terminal DC (MTDC) grids based on an optimal power flow (OPF) procedure and the voltage-droop control. In the proposed approach, an OPF algorithm is executed at the secondary level to find optimal reference of DC voltages and active powers of all voltage-regulating converters. Then, the voltage ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Switching Dc-dc Converters Using a Grid-point Approach
A switching dc-dc hverter in closed-loop steady-state constitutes an operating point in the space of parameters describing its model. The inadequacy of conventional design of regulated converters, which is based on the assumption of smallsignal perturbations about a single operating point, is addressed. A systematic and general modelling based on a grid-point approach is thus proposed. Under th...
متن کاملGlobally convergent algorithms for DC operating point analysis of nonlinear circuits
An important objective in the analysis of an electronic circuit is to find its quiescent or dc operating point. This is the starting point for performing other types of circuit analysis. The most common method for finding the dc operating point of a nonlinear electronic circuit is the Newton–Raphson method (NR), a gradient search technique. There are known convergence issues with this method. N...
